Video Resume - A New Way to Attract Employers!
To offer job seekers
an added feature on JobsDB's job site, to stand out and attract
employers and for employers a convenient and time saving way
to conduct preliminary screening of candidates, JobsDB has
launched a new service "JobsDB Video Resume" on 13 November
2003 in Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore
and Thailand.
Video Resume has
become increasingly popular in the United States but in Asia,
it has not been widely used due to the fact that it was costly
and time consuming for job seekers to attend a studio physically
to have their Video Resumes taped. Furthermore, video-streaming
technology has not matured, causing delay in visual and audio
delivery when transmitted.
As for the JobsDB
Video Resume, Macromedia Flash MX 2004 technology has been
used as the platform of development; job seekers only need
a web camera and microphone installed on their PCs to make
a film clip of self introduction, which can be taped repeated
until the result is satisfactory. Job seekers can then submit
their Video Resumes to employers along with job applications
and text resumes online, and employers can view video resumes
of candidates online through JobsDB's Recruitment Management
System ("RMS") or email.
Competition is
getting keener in the market. A job advertisement only would
always attract hundreds of applicants. JobsDB Video Resume
allows job seekers to introduce and distinguish themselves
from the crowd by showing their personal skills in both language
and presentation. On the other hand, it also helps save employers'
time for interview and makes faster the recruitment as a prescreening
tool. Video Resume is expected to become the trend in job
seeking.
