Project Technical Assistant (Ref. 16111505)
[Appointment period: eighteen months]
The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project – “Construction of an interlanguage corpus for non-Chinese speaking (NCS) students in Hong Kong”. He/She will be required to:
(a) construct a computer system for processing and analysing students’ work in the form of written Chinese texts;
(b) design, develop and maintain a learner corpus that contains sorting, retrieval and display functions;
(c) provide technical support to the project team; and
(d) perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegates.
Applicants should have:
(a) a recognised degree in Information Technology, Computing or a related discipline;
(b) knowledge of Chinese word segmentation/speech tagging software, XML, data storage and management system, and server management system;
(c) the ability to work independently with minimal supervision; and
(d) positive working attitude, good problem solving skills and be a good team player.
