Jobsdb by SEEK Releases Latest Data on AI-Related Job Ads in 2025
Job ads containing AIrelated skill keywords increased by 26% yearonyear in the first three quarters of 2025.
Among jobseekers who submitted resumes over the past 12 months, only around 2% listed AI skills in their Jobsdb profiles.
During the first three quarters, the IT, banking and financial services, and sales sectors recorded the fastest growth in AIrelated job postings.
The five most frequently mentioned generative AI tools in job ads were ChatGPT, Copilot, DeepSeek, Midjourney, and Perplexity, in that order. Jobsdb by SEEK, Hong Kong’s leading online employment platform, released its latest market insights on AIrelated hiring trends, revealing a sharp increase in demand for AI skills and professional qualifications. With the 2025 Policy Address identifying artificial intelligence (AI) and data science as key development priorities, industries across Hong Kong are accelerating their adoption of AI technologies and raising expectations for employee skill sets. As the new hiring season approaches, jobseekers are encouraged to plan ahead and strengthen their AI skills to stay competitive.
Surging AI Demand Highlights New Opportunities for Jobseekers
According to Jobsdb data, job ads requiring AI application skills jumped 26% yearonyear in the first three quarters of 2025. Despite a slowdown in the overall job market, hiring demand for AIrelated roles remains robust, marking four consecutive quarters of strong growth. This trend highlights how businesses are rapidly integrating AI tools to boost efficiency and increasingly value employees with handson AI capabilities. Among all sectors, IT, banking and financial services, and sales recorded the fastest growth in AIrelated job ads, followed closely by marketing, communications, and education and training, showing how AI skill demand continues to expand across diverse fields.
However, Jobsdb data also reveals a significant skills gap between market demand and what jobseekers present on their resumes. Among those who applied jobs over the past year, only around 2% explicitly listed AI skills on their Jobsdb profiles. This includes general keywords like “AI” and “machine learning”, as well as technical terms and tools like “natural language processing” and “Amazon SageMaker”. Younger jobseekers tend to be more proactive — 3.6% of candidates aged 21 or below reported such skills, compared with less than 2% among those aged 46 or above. This contrast underscores the need for jobseekers to equip themselves and highlight relevant competencies to stay competitive in today’s AIdriven workplace.
Generative AI Tools Become Essential Skills for Modern Professionals
As AI adoption becomes more widespread, many professionals are turning to generative AI tools to enhance productivity. In the first three quarters of 2025, the five most frequently mentioned generative AI tools in job ads were ChatGPT, Copilot, DeepSeek, Midjourney, and Perplexity. These tools help users quickly gather and synthesize information, create content and visuals, handle documentation, and develop strategies — skills that employers are increasingly expecting jobseekers to demonstrate.
Within IT related job ads, key technical terms linked to AI also saw a rapid rise in frequency. The most notable increases included Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), Machine Learning, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), signaling strong demand for talent proficient in cutting edge AI technologies.
Small Companies Lead the Charge in AI Adoption
Embracing AI is now a clear trend across industries, with microenterprises showing the fastest growth in AIrelated hiring. Jobsdb data indicates that job ads mentioning AI from companies with one to ten employees recorded a 35% yearonyear increase in the first three quarters of 2025 — nine percentage points higher than the overall market growth. This suggests smaller businesses, often with limited manpower, are turning to AIpowered tools to improve productivity and efficiency and are eager to recruit talent capable of leveraging AI effectively.
Jobsdb by SEEK Hong Kong Managing Director Bill Lee said, “As AI technology becomes increasingly prevalent across industries in Hong Kong, the demand for related skills is no longer limited to IT roles. Many traditional sectors are now also looking for candidates with AI capabilities, reflecting the strong and growing market need for AIskilled talent.
