An Architectural Assistant serves as support to qualified Architects, and they play a role in the design and planning of construction projects. This can typically include creating designs and plans, presenting feasibility reports and design proposals to clients and assisting with contract administration projects. They may also liaise with construction professionals over defections or logistical issues. Architectural Assistants often work within architectural firms, but they can also operate in the construction industry, public sector or property development firms.
Tasks and duties
- Assisting with the creation of architectural designs and layouts.
- Supporting architects in various project phases, from conceptual designs to final drawings.
- Conducting research and analysis to inform the design process.
- Helping create visualisations of projects, using hand-drawings and design software.
- Compiling project specifications and schedules under the supervision of architects.
- Assisting in the production of technical documents and reports.
- Contributing to the coordination and oversight of the construction process.
How to become an Architectural Assistant
An Architectural Assistant supports qualified Architects in designing and planning construction projects. Responsibilities can typically include creating designs and plans, presenting feasibility reports and design proposals to clients and assisting with contract administration projects.
- 1.Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Studies or other related disciplines.
- 2.Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp and other software for image editing and computer animation, e.g. Photoshop, CorelDraw and 3DSMAX.
- 3.Understanding of HKSAR building codes and standards.
- 4.Working experience in residential, retail and commercial projects is an advantage.
- 5.A team player with solid communication, coordination, project management and interpersonal skills.
