You are, and should be, in control of your happiness in both your personal and professional life. You may not know what the future brings but there’s one thing you can be certain of, if you want to be happy, you better start doing things that will lift you up and stop doing things that bring you down.???????????????????????????????????????

1. Develop positive attitude

A positive attitude gives you the confidence to view every situation on the bright side, paving the way for you to achieve success. To develop a positive attitude you have to look at all sides of issues which come up, not just your own perspective. Always focus on the solutions rather than the problems. A good attitude can open doors and opportunities you never thought possible.

A simple way to minimize drama in your life is to stay away from people who make you feel like your life is full of problems.  Surround yourself with people who bring about a positive influence in your life.

2. Take control of your life

You are responsible for the life you lead and there’s no need to wait for other people’s approval or else you may never be truly happy.  When you’re in a scenario where you think you have no choice and that you’re bound to live your life the same way forever, know that there’s always a choice, you always have a CHOICE.

The same applies to your career too.  If things aren’t going too well in the office, know that you can do something about it.  Whether it’s doing something about your work attitude or improving your work performance, you have full control of how you can bring your career to the next level.

3. Take a moment to enjoy life

While it takes tremendous amounts of dedication and hard work to achieve success and happiness, you also need to take a moment to savor and enjoy life.  Take a moment off work to de-stress so you can refocus your attention and get your creative juices flowing again.

If the pressure at work is starting to get to you, do not hesitate to take a short break.  Take a day or two off work to recharge your energy.  Just make sure you file your leave appropriately and take care of any urgent matters before going on a vacation.  Use this time to enjoy a worry free vacation so that you can get refreshed when go back to work.


1. Complain about everything

Whether it’s failing to win that promotion, or earning that big raise, blaming yourself or others won’t do you any good.  In order to be truly happy, you have to take responsibility for every decision you make. If this year has been less than rosy, reflect on the actions you made and learn from it.  Take these lessons to heart and use them so you will not make the same mistakes next year.  The happiest people have no time to point fingers.  It’s useless, ineffective and will just delay you from doing what you need to do to be truly happy in life.


2. Wallowing in self-pity

Life is not fair and the sooner you realize that, the happier you will be.  You and millions of other people are going through the same sort of hardships and challenges every day.  Wallowing in self-pity won’t help you change the fact that life is not fair, so it’s either you deal with it or you don’t.

What sets you apart from the rest is what you do with the knowledge, come to terms with the unfairness of it all and sport a brand-new attitude of positivity.  You know you’ll have to work doubly hard to be happy and successful in 2014 so use this time to plan your life, career, and everything else accordingly.  Remember, when the going gets tough, the tough gets going.

3. Worry too much

There are things that are beyond your control and worrying about them won’t stop them from happening to you.  The best thing you can do is to prepare for them in advance so that when they happen, you won’t get into a panic.  The secret to a happy, healthy life is to ensure you always have a back-up plan – don’t leave everything to fate or chance.  You may not know when something bad will happen but if you’ve done enough to negate its impact, then you definitely have nothing to worry about.


There is no such thing as a bad day, a bad year, or a bad life.  It’s all about YOU. You are in control of your life.  It’s the things you’re willing to do, to change, and to improve that will help you be happier and more successful in life.  Spend some time to plan the things you want to achieve in your career life.
