Li & Fung is establishing a digital business offshoot with the goal of developing digital solutions for the global supply chain. These solutions are expected to use advanced systems technologies and harness big-data and analytics. This digital offshoot is being built outside the structures and culture of the Li & Fung sourcing business and it is expected that the people in this business will be substantially recruited form outside Li & Fung.
LF Digital (DTU) is a newly established business unit within Li & Fung Limited. Its purpose is to advance the goal of building a digital supply chain of the future, a goal that has been set out in the Li & Fung three-year plan, which has set expectations of an overall investment of more than US$100 million in digitalizing the supply chain. The DTU organization is divided into a number of programs, each of which manage one or more implementation teams to create digital technical and business capabilities.
Li & Fung recognizes that it needs its digital services business to be fast-moving, agile and entrepreneurial. Whilst these are traits of the Li & Fung sourcing businesses the digital business is expected to move at a much faster pace. There is a strong rationale to be a first-mover in digital supply chain and that will necessitate a higher appetite for risk taking than in the LF core business. It is expected that LF Digital will build revenue streams in supply of digital services and digitally-sourced insights to various external parties along the sourcing value stream. It is also expected that LF Digital will supply digital supply chain solutions to Li & Fung.
Application Quality Engineers ensure the applications developed within the DTU are built without defects and perform to expectations. They are responsible for defining how the application should be tested, conducting the tests, and developing automated test routines. They are also responsible to capturing any defects or bugs found, and ensuring they are fixed and providing feedback on how they could be prevented in the future.
