Job Description

Timothy Oulton Studio are currently recruiting an Architect / Interior Designer to join our international award winning Design Team. The purpose of this role is to design and produce schemes under the Senior Designer and Design Director/Founder’s guidance. Working closely with them on new, prestigious projects in China, Hong Kong and London, the candidate will have the chance to develop and build schemes from concept to completion. Liaising with Contractors, Clients, Project Managers and Suppliers teams, you will not only need to be creative, but also organised and pragmatic to ensure all projects are performed with not only design in mind, but also the holistic experience in mind and within budget.

Essential skills

  • 3-5 years’ project management experience with increasing responsibility, global experience preferred
  • 2+ years related drafting experience
  • Capability of following a project from initial design stages through to its completion
  • Developed and tracked budgets previously
  • Effective decision making skills
  • Excellent organisation, communication and prioritization skills
  • Outstanding written and spoken English & Chinese (Mandarin & Cantonese)
  • Competent in the use of 3D modelling software
  • Proficiency in AutoCAO, Sketchup, Vector Works, Photoshop, lnDesign, Illustrator, 3D Max and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to demonstrate previous design and project management success.
  • Site experience required, working with contractors, co-ordinating works on site
  • Prepared to travel and stay in China 2-3 days every week


Responsibilities

  • Project manage from pre-award phase, concept, materials, contractors and suppliers through to completed approved instillation & styling; accountable and responsible for setting, updating and keeping project timelines and flagging potential delays to stakeholders
  • Intake project objectives and guidance from project principals
  • Develop and improve project floor plans & produce sophisticated on brand material palettes
  • Prepare basic but varied CAD / sketch up detail and assembly/ technical drawings from sketches, mark-up prints and other reference materials;
  • Create preliminary drawings with compete dimensional data for engineering or manufacturing purposes 
  • Support the production, managing drawings, schedules and specifications
  • Manage and purchase key items for Projects outside of the Group’s design and fabrication capabilities
  • Ensure project is delivered and signed off by local authorities on time
  • Manage FF&E stock in storage and identify future uses including vintage & antiques
  • Collaborate and build strong, effective working relationships with the project team/ stakeholders.Accountable to set and run effective meetings; facilitate communication platforms necessary and achieve agreed project goals within set timelines.
  • Generate alternative solutions to roadblocks in collaboration with the team; report to project principals on status and delays.
  • Build and maintain effective supplier and contractor relationships to inspire confidence a trust whilst ensuring progress and quality of work meets desired standard
  • Support the Marketing team with photo shoots; and preparation of award submissions
