Job Description

The role

To take responsibility for the day to day management of the school’s ICT infrastructure in order to ensure the efficiency and integrity of ICT systems across the school and ensure alignment with the school’s priorities and quality educational provision. That would include:

  • Management of computer hardware, software and network systems;
  • Installation and support of network servers including operating systems and applications software;
  • Installation and support of personal computers and tablets;
  • Oversight of network operations;
  • Planning and evaluation of hardware and software;
  • Provision of problem-solving and training for teachers and pupils.

Support for Staff:

  • Support and lead the management of all aspects of the school’s administrative and curriculum networks, servers, email and security systems providing a safe and efficient ICT environment for staff;
  • Available to staff to troubleshoot ICT related issues;
  • Work in close liaison with the Educational Technology Leaders to provide staff and pupils with appropriate IT resources, functionality and training;
  • Line manage and coordinate on-site ICT support technicians and ensure uninterrupted ICT support during school hours;
  • Be available to provide ICT support during school events taking place within and outside the school day and, when necessary, in the evenings or weekends, in coordination with other members of the team;
  • Support the administrative team in the operation of administrative systems.

Support for Pupils:

  • Support the management of all aspects of the school’s administrative and curriculum networks, servers, email and security systems providing a safe and efficient ICT environment for pupils;
  • Support pupils with their personal devices in line with the school’s Bring Your Own Device Policy and ICT Acceptable Use Policy.

Support for Senior Management:

  • Work closely with the Senior Management Team in strategic planning and development of ICT systems and operation;
  • Ensure the school’s ICT strategy is implemented in a safe and efficient ICT environment for staff and pupils;
  • Support, implement and monitor the school’s practices for data protection, internet use, e-mail, security and ICT resource management.

Support for Parents:

  • Support for parents in accessing the school’s online platforms.

Other Related Duties:

  • Support the implementation, monitoring and review of school procedures for managing and recording installations and configuration changes;
  • Support the management of the school’s network infrastructure, servers and workstations;
  • Ensure that the network is operational during access hours and appropriate back-up protocols are implemented;
  • Deliver a regular maintenance programme of the school’s servers and core systems and resolution of failures in hardware and software;
  • Monitor the use of hardware and software and ensure all software is licensed;
  • Help set up security parameters and ensure virus checks are implemented;
  • Support the installation of all new computer software as required, enabling the delivery of ICT to all operational areas;
  • Support internet access filtering, e-mail filtering and related monitoring systems;
  • Maintain the school’s ICT inventory;
  • Support the development and use of the school’s Management Information System (iSams);
  • Comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, welfare, security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting any concerns to the Headmaster and Deputy Head;
  • Contribute to discussions regarding ICT budgeting to ensure value for money and efficient management of the ICT budget.


  • University degree in Computer Engineering or equivalent discipline;
  • Certified professional in one or more of the following industries: Microsoft/CISCO/Apple/Google an added advantage but not essential
  • Proficiency in programming an advantage;
  • Experience working in an international school;
  • Working experience supporting Windows-based laptops and desktops and Apple Computers and iPads;
  • Experience in mobile device support and management;
  • Hands-on experience in troubleshooting of networking devices;
  • Skilful in photography and video-shooting;
  • Familiar with the editing process and media sharing an added advantage but not essential;
  • Excellent English (spoken and written);
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Flexibility;
  • Willingness to demonstrate initiative.
