Assistant Manager, Examinations Services



Our British Council Hong Kong office is currently looking for an Assistant Manager in the Exams team.

The Examinations business makes a significant contribution to British Council financial sustainability, and as such, it is essential that the business evolves in order to maintain its position in a fast-changing operating context. There is a need to standardise and automate activities across the globe to deliver efficiencies, and there is also a requirement to develop new digital products and services to meet changing customer demands and competitive pressures. In a cost and resource-constrained environment, balancing the on-going requirements and allocation of funds will be critical, as will the integration and planning of the implementation of the different changes across a global network of 110+ countries charged with the on-going delivery of impact and income whilst changing key elements of the supporting operational platform.


Managing a team, you will lead the delivery of professional and quality examinations services in Hong Kong, Macau and Mongolia. The role is also responsible for ensuring the exams are delivered with 100% accuracy in accordance with the requirement of the British Council and the examination boards. Also proactively engaging with external and internal stakeholders to ensure business needs are met and excellent exam services are delivered.


You will be involved in commercial and resource management where you will identify potential venues for exam delivery and use your negotiating skills with service provider and maximise value for money. You can take pride in collecting market intelligence as agreed and provides up-to-date information. You will also enhance your leadership management skills by motivating and encouraging team members to ensure high quality service delivery is maintained. 


To be qualified, you are a University degree graduate with written and spoken English at IELTS 6.5 or equivalent as well as Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua). You will have at least 3 years’ experience in managing a team as well as developing and maintain professional relationships. You have experience in working with customers in a service-oriented environment and working in a challenging environment operating against tight deadlines. You will also have experience in administrative field.
