DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED MATHEMATICS
Assistant Officer (Ref. 19041707)
[Appointment period: eleven months]
The appointee will be required to:
(a) provide administrative and secretarial support to administrative committees, academic programmes, ad hoc working groups and research-related activities in the Department;
(b) assist in planning and organising departmental activities, conferences and seminars as well as coordinate visits of distinguished speakers and academic visitors;
(c) compile departmental reports and publications;
(d) supervise junior staff;
(e) liaise with other departments as well as external organisations; and
(f) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or his delegates.
The appointee may be required to work outside normal office hours occasionally.
(a) have a recognised degree;
(b) have at least three years of relevant post-qualification experience;
(c) have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua;
(d) have good computer literacy, liaison and organisational skills;
(e) have excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
(f) have high self-motivation and ability to complete tasks independently; and
(g) be a good team player.
