Overview - Business Development Manager – International Carrier Business (ICB)

The role holder is responsible for leading new business development and commercial trading of wholesale portfolio with >300 partners globally. Portfolio includes IDD, DID, ITFS, SMS, A2P. You will be challenged to deliver a critical quota (importantly driven by gross margin and revenue). The role holder will also play a critical role supporting our Enterprise business by leveraging carrier partnerships to deliver competitive a cost base. This role will involve limited regional and international travel. Potential to build/hire a team based on business growth achieved.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of accounts with combination of farming and hunting to deliver incremental, profitable revenue streams.
  • Own the P&L for all connectivity products (Voice, SMS, Virtual Numbers) in the wholesale market. Deliver significant revenue and margin contribution to the business focused on organic new business growth underpinning the launch of our new CCaaS platform, maaiiConnect.
  • Act as a business partner to Carriers, MVNO, OTT and Telecom Re-sellers for all connectivity products (SMS, Voice, Numbers).
  • Maintain relationships with international carriers, mobile operators and aggregators, taking care that contractual commitments are fulfilled on spec, time, budget and quality
  • To be directly involved on major accounts and prospects for maaiiConnect to ensure ICB is providing the most competitive cost-base possible.
  • To develop internal and external relationships, leveraging existing industry contacts.
  • Additional responsibilities may include pre-sales, customer support and sales administration.


  •  Bachelor’s degree level, and/or strong relevant industry experience 

 Skills/Experience required:

  •  Min 2 years’ sales/business development experience in the telecommunications industry.
  • Proven business development experience selling to international carriers, mobile operators and aggregators – evidence of executive carrier relationships.
  • Well versed in the drafting and reviewing of a range of commercial contracts including bilateral agreements.
  • Strong presentation skills – proven experience dealing with executive level both internally and externally.
  • Self-motivated and multi-tasking in fast-paced environment - proven track record of delivering target commitments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with good business sense.
  • Fluent in English and Cantonese preferable.
  • Willing to travel.
  •  Lesser experience may be considered for a Business Development Executive position.
