Job Description

Position Summary

The Children's Place is looking for an experienced Sourcing professional to drive sourcing initiatives and lead teams of sourcing professionals on costing strategies to meet financial targets. This individual will collaborate with global sourcing, design, and merchandising counterparts in ensuring that all business goals and objectives are met and our product is executed in line with brand direction, quality & safety standards, and responsible sourcing practices.

Key accountabilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the Pre-Production and Production teams on costing strategies, cost negotiations, and vendor/factory relations to meet financial and on-time delivery targets
  • Driving the development, planning, execution and communication of a global sourcing strategy that meets or exceeds financial goals/targets while adhering to calendar deadlines for the assigned business category
  • Developing short-term and long-term strategies to provide world class service levels
  • Developing and driving strategic relationships with vendor community by providing world class service levels
  • Managing and developing a vendor/factory base for capacity management & category planning
  • Establishing and managing strategic vendor partnerships that supports the allocation process in an effort to minimize costs and maximize efficiencies
  • Leading effective relationships with cross-functional leaders in the execution of sourcing initiatives
  • Managing projects, priorities and requirements to achieve business goals
  • Hiring, retaining, leading and developing high performing talent and teams
  • Driving efficiencies by identifying and implementing opportunities to improve the apparel sourcing organization and processes
  • Travelling internationally as required; leading and participating in global phone calls and/or video conferences as needed to ensure the achievement of business objectives
  • Supporting cross-functional business partners, such as HR and Finance, with issues related to governance, budget management, employment issues, and reporting
  • Playing a leadership role in  the company’s talent management strategy and efforts – including recruitment, training, coaching, and retention of individuals and roles beyond the direct team

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent required, ideally in Fashion Design, Clothing/Textiles or a related discipline
  • 10+ years previous related work experience in garment/textiles design, development and/or production, ideally in children’s apparel/products
  • Comprehensive background in apparel sourcing from pre-production to production
  • Deep understanding of product development cycles, sourcing and supply chain management
  • Strong background in developing and maintaining vendor and supplier relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and execute various sourcing strategies (e.g. country migration, vendor consolidation, etc.)
  • Awareness of key product safety standards and issues for children’s apparel/products
  • Results orientation – tenacity, determination and drive to solve problems and create solutions despite challenges and obstacles
