Job Description

Are you ready to revolutionize global education?  We’re on a mission to provide transformational, personalized learning experiences that prepare students for professional success in the 21st century.

Our team has spent the last ten years building a new model of higher education for students in East Africa. After a decade of impact and success, we are launching Davis College, a new global co-ed network of universities. We’re expanding access to more students than ever, and will offer degrees to male and female students. We have an ambitious vision for scale of our unique model of personalized and affordable higher education, while maintaining Akilah as a unique campus for female leaders.

Davis College Hong Kong and Davis College Rwanda will open in 2020. By 2030, we will open 10 Davis College campuses in Asia and Africa and educate 1 million students.

Our pillars (21st-century skills, personalized learning, innovation, ethical leadership, and sustainability) underpin all of our academic programs and serve as our guiding light during this phase of rapid expansion.  We’re committed to equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in careers in the fastest growing sectors of the economy. Will you join us?

The Position:

Davis College Hong Kong is seeking a talented, energetic Global People Operations Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to join a rapidly growing organization and assist on all Global HR and People Operations as we expand our global network of campuses in Asia and Africa.

The Global People Operations Coordinator will be an articulate, passionate ambassador for Davis College and for the power of transformational, personalized learning experiences that prepare students for the careers of today and of the future. This is an ideal position for you if you enjoy working in a fast-paced, rapidly growing organization, adapt well to change and don’t need a precise roadmap to move a project from ideation to implementation.  The position will report to a remote manager based in the US.

In this role, you will collaborate with the VP of Global People Operations and add your voice and expertise to the Global HR Team to ensure that all People Operations policies, procedures, and systems are adhered to on a global scale, ensuring we are prepared for rapid growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for People Operations activities, including, but not limited to:
    • Recruitment: Assist with the initial review of  candidate information and interview coordination;
    • Onboarding:  Assist with ensuring all employees are onboarded to a consistent and high level, and lead on HR-related onboarding tasks
    • Offboarding: Ensure that all employees are offboarded in a smooth and efficient manner and in line with established policies and procedures;
    • Assist with maintenance of employee-related systems, including Asana and Slack
    • Manage the Davis College company calendar

  • Be an advocate for our culture principles;
  • Ensure a positive and consistent employee experience, from application to the last day of employment;
  • Assist the Hong Kong People Operations Manager as needed; and
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; and
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional human resources experience

Desired Qualifications & Skills:

Our ideal candidate will have most, if not all, of the following skills and qualifications:

  • Experience providing a high level of administrative support to a global People Operations team, to include everything from employee file management to system administration and more;
  • Experience providing administrative support for talent acquisition activities (sourcing, screening and interview coordination) in a rapidly growing organization;
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to handle the unexpected with flexibility and grace;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to juggle and manage multiple, competing priorities and deadlines;
  • Excitement about working in a vibrant and evolving startup environment, with a willingness to accept new responsibilities as needed;
  • Experience working with a remote manager and the ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate working with colleagues across multiple time zones;
  • Ability to create results in a collaborative environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to “draw the owl” and complete projects without an exact roadmap for how to get them done;
  • Relentless resourcefulness, refusing to be slowed down by real or perceived obstacles;
  • Willingness to contribute unsustainable effort with the situation calls for it - this is not a 9-to-5 position and we are not a 9-to-5 company. We pride ourselves on our agile working culture. No day is the same but you see change as an opportunity to flourish and grow.
  • Exceptionally motivated by the idea of building a global community of lifelong learners;
  • Extraordinarily resilient, positive, and proactive;
