Job Description

Our client is a global interior design studio with offices in Asia, working on hospitality/ high-end residential projects. They possess a young and dynamic design team with talents from different countries. They are searching for an experienced design director to join them and to lead the design team.


What you will be doing?

  • Contribute to business development efforts through your contacts with hotel developers and hotel operators or brands.
  • Work with and lead the team to produce compelling, informative proposals and presentations
  • Attend and present to client meetings, as representative of the design team
  • Provide space planning that accurately reflects the Program, functional requirements and design considerations of the project, and meets all building code requirements
  • Oversee and guide the 2 and 3D development of design concepts, with emphasis on developing high quality designs and renderings
  • Research, recommend and guide the team in the selection of finishes and furnishings that capture the functional, aesthetic, environmental and budgetary requirements of the hotel brand and the project, understanding how texture, light, colour and other factors interact to create an elegant and timeless environment
  • Oversee documentation for the selection, specification, procurement and installation of FFE fixtures, furnishings and equipment, including detailed layout drawings and schedules
  • Oversee Contract Documents (plans, elevations, sections, details and schedules) primarily in AutoCAD (and occasionally REVIT)



  • Degree in Interior Design / professional registration
  • At least 10 – 15 years of work experience in hospitality design in the mid to high end market
  • Well-developed understanding of the design process and client needs and goals
  • An inspirational portfolio of current and relevant work
  • Experienced in client presentations and new business development
  • A strong track record in identifying and pursuing new business leads and landing design awards
  • Experience negotiating contracts and managing scope and client expectations
  • Excellent leadership skills to attract, train and supervise senior, intermediate and junior designers
  • Well-developed time management and project management skills required to undertake multiple projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Software/Technology: AutoCAD, 3D knowledge preferred (Sketchup or Max), Microsoft Office 2003, Presentation Software (Image Ready, Power Point or Photoshop)
  • Ability and enthusiasm to travel as required 
  • Experience working internationally and with large multi-disciplinary projects would be an asset.
