Job Description

The opportunity

BDO Hong Kong has been an advocate of good ESG performance and practices.  Throughout previous years, BDO Hong Kong has launched various events to promote ESG and recognise the achievements of listed companies on their outstanding ESG reporting and performance.  BDO Hong Kong has been conducting ESG reporting surveys on Hong Kong listed companies and provided detailed guidance to listed companies on enhancing their ESG reporting and aligning with international practices. 

Being a trusted service provider, our ESG servicing team has been expanding fast and continuing providing value-added services to our clients to meet their needs in sustainability and addressing climate related concerns.  Recently, we are expanding our reach into the sustainable finance space in respond to increasing enquiries and service demand.  We are looking for capable and experienced candidates to join our ESG team. 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and advise clients on issuance of green bonds, finance, sustainability-linked products;
  • Conduct climate risk stress testing and scenario analysis exercises for banks, insurers and asset managers;
  • Conduct compliance review and assessment over fund manager operations against FMCC in relation to climate-related practices and disclosure;
  • Advise banks on sustainable banking practices;
  • Assist clients in enhancing sustainability/ESG index rating;
  • Advise clients on the process of impact investment;
  • Provide ESG services covering ESG governance, strategies, risk management and monitoring of performance metrics for clients regarding their business operations and activities, including supply chain management, food safety management and Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) management;
  • Develop tailored scope of services to clients based on their understanding of clients’ operations;
  • Understand client's industry and related ESG risks and key performance drivers; gain knowledge on a wide variety of issues impacting the client; and
  • Bring potential opportunities to the teams' attention and carry out business development activities in promoting our services.

Requirements:

  • Master or bachelor degree, major in environmental engineering/ energy/ finance/ economics, etc.
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant working experience
  • Engaged in green bonds or sustainability-linked products issuance, assurance/verification/evaluation/rating, has knowledge of green finance consulting;
  • Experienced in carbon trading, carbon emission verification, ESG investment;
  • Experienced in advising on corporate finance (SFC Type 6);
  • Experienced in ESG /sustainability reporting and assurance, sustainability strategy are preferred. Knowledge and experience in key areas, such as: food safety, sustainability in supply chain, responsible investment, Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) and accounting is a plus
  • With in-depth knowledge in ICMA principles, TCFD disclosure, sustainable banking, ESG and carbon disclosure;
  • Able to interact effectively with both management and clients;
  • Experienced in team management and capable of business development;
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese; Mandarin is an advantage; excellent written communication and reporting skills; and
  • Travelling within China is required.
