The Global Financial Solutions (GFS) focus is on delivering value added financial services in an efficient and effective model that supports the company’s growth and enables in-market Finance to focus on activity that more directly supports commercial activities.

 General Job Requirements:

Based in Hong Kong and reporting to the Business Service Lead of Global Finance Solution AsiaPac this position will be responsible for the delivery of PTP services mainly focusing on China market.

The customers for the PTP process will be represented by Finance Business Partners of China in Gilead and will also include the Finance and business users of the process along with Gilead suppliers.

Position Specific Job Requirements:

  •  Processing of vendors’ invoices, employees’ expense claims, payment files for China; ability to follow up and resolve outstanding items and exceptions in a timely manner
  • Contribution to the definition of service standards and continuous management of service level agreements with internal stakeholders and external vendors
  • Contribution to the definition and maintenance of key performance indicators (KPIs) and the establishment of a continuous improvement culture
  • Responsible for the timely preparation of the month end closing procedures for China in high quality
  • Ensure financial records are in compliance with GAAP. Consistently maintains appropriate internal controls and upholds company policies & procedures including Worldwide Controller’s manual
  • Interacts successfully with internal and external auditors by providing timely & accurate data and communication
  • Evaluates processes and recommends & implements process improvements
  • Helps develop, maintain and assess internal controls related to Gilead’s accounting and financial reporting systems
  • Interacts successfully with non-financial personnel; ensure proper training and development objectives are met
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - the ability to work effectively across multiple functions and different cultures
  • Ability to quickly establish credibility with and influence diverse audiences

 Knowledge, experience, competencies:

  •  3 years+ relevant experience in China Financial Operations (experience financial shared services is preferable)
  • Knowledge of the Biotech or pharmaceutical industry including market regulation and compliance would serve as a distinct advantage
  • Accounting/ Finance / Business degree is preferable
  • ACA/ACCA/CPA qualification is preferred - Big 4 or similar practice accounting background a distinct advantage
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and China accounting principles and practices is preferred
  • Experience in interacting with external and internal auditors along with detailed knowledge and experience of SOX Compliance
  • Working knowledge and experience of Oracle or similar ERP product
  • Proficiency with Microsoft tools (Excel, Outlook, and Word) required.
  • Self-starter and able to act on own initiative
  • Self-driven with high levels of integrity, excellence and teamwork.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to be detail oriented
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously, working under pressure and to meet strict reporting deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (oral, written, presentational);
  • Demonstrates team work and collaborate approach to work
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Mandarin
  • Able to type traditional and simplified Chinese
