Job Description

Library Assistant (Lending Services) in the University Libraries (Ref.: 495648) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to mutual agreement)

Applicants should possess 5 passes in HKCEE including English (min. grade C if Syllabus A/Level 2 from 2007), OR min. Level 2 or equivalent in 5 subjects in HKDSEE including English Language, OR a recognized certificate for library assistants OR a recognized certificate in the area of digital library/information centre management, and preferably with some relevant library and counter services experience. They should have proficiency in spoken English, Cantonese and Putonghua, excellent customer service skills and basic knowledge of PC and software applications. An enthusiastic, co-operative and service-oriented attitude is essential. The appointee will perform a wide range of Libraries’ Lending Services duties including library membership and registration, circulation, patron assistance and enquiries, shelf management, collection of statistics, technical support at the Ingenium, security and patrol duties, and perform any other duties as assigned by supervisors. Shift duty on evenings, weekends and public holidays will be required.
