Job Description

This role leads the Chem-IQSM program strategy development, refinement, and implementation throughout the global supply chain while driving for results and improved efficiencies.

The leader in this role, in close collaboration with the Director of Product Stewardship, enhances and continually improves upon the implementation approach of the Chem-IQSM program to cover VF’s global supply chain, including both Tier-1 and Tier-2 facilities.

The Chem-IQSM Manager shall tenaciously seek opportunities to learn more about our supply chain to roll-out the program in effective, scalable ways. In partnership with various internal and external stakeholders, the individual in this role will develop workplans with specific goals, objectives and action items to implement the program across VF’s global supply chain, while providing leadership and guidance to the Senior Analyst of Chem-IQSM .

The Chem-IQSM Manager is additionally responsible for communicating program updates to various internal stakeholders across regions and time zones, and partners with external stakeholders, including consultants, chemical industry partners, government agencies, third party labs, and others to continuously refine the program to meet strategic objectives.  


  • Lead VF’s Chem-IQSM program in partnership with the Senior Chem-IQSM Analyst, and in collaboration with the Director of Product Stewardship.  
  • Continuously refine the program and analyze existing data to support the broader Product Stewardship team to make progressive updates to VF’s RSL and testing program.
  • Identify and strengthen the connection points between the Chem-IQSM program, RSL, product testing, and environmental sustainability work streams to build a comprehensive ‘chemical management’ narrative, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. Communicate this comprehensive narrative internally and externally as necessary.
  • Implement and maintain the program across all sourcing locations globally; these include all in-scope Tier-1 and Tier-2 facilities, by partnering with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage 3rd party service providers to build capacity and maintain technical capability. Manage and monitor the performance of the service provider.
  • Facilitate the chemical shipment process with logistics companies to help suppliers ship chemical samples to labs.
  • Drive discussions and communications on Chem-IQSM, attend industry conferences AFIRM/ GAFTI/ and AAFA to promote Chem-IQSM as a valuable industry wide chemical screening tool.
  • Build corrective action plans to facilitate the phase-out of unwanted chemistry and work on continuous improvement plans enabling replacement with preferred chemistry.
  • Provide guidance to Sustainable Operation (SO) teams for onsite Chem-IQSM support, execution of corrective action and continuous improvement plans, and verification.
  • Enhance existing product safety standards and processes using Chem-IQSM data in partnership with the broader Product Stewardship team.
  • Conduct data analysis and development of key performance indicators (KPI).
  • Maintain regular Chem-IQSM updates with relevant internal stakeholders (Sourcing / Brands / Sustainability & Compliance Teams) on results and KPI performance, use these to further enhance Chem-IQSM roll-out and implementation.
  • In collaboration with colleagues, take a proactive role in raising awareness and knowledge of the overall VF chemical management program to internal and external stakeholders via training and regular engagement, in a way the audience can understand and practically apply.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Chemical Engineering, Textile Chemistry
  • 5 years of experience & 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Experience with database management, data analysis and reporting

  • Ability to compile reports and interpret data
  • Proficient PC skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Lotus Notes)
  • Must be an excellent collaborator and communicator and find shared value with internal and external partners
  • Must be able to think logically, show initiative, handle and prioritize multiple projects, and work independently
  • Flexibility and capacity to keep multiple projects on track simultaneously is necessary
  • Must be detail-oriented with exceptional time-management skills
  • Strong organizational and communication skills (oral and written) are necessary
  • Ability to read and interpret legal documents a plus
