Job Description

The Role

With a single brand in Hong Kong as the largest revenue contributor in the region, the Managing Director, Hong Kong is expected to take the Hong Kong business to the next level.

SEEK Asia is looking for a capable and dynamic Managing Director, Hong Kong who inspires to be part of a global organization, which is also the leader in its space with worldwide sharing of ideas and best practices; who is motivated to assume a high-profile key leadership role in a company with a track record of providing diverse regional and international career development opportunities and would like to join an organization with an innovative, entrepreneurial, agile and highly collaborative culture.

The successful candidate will lead the local team of around 100 employees to continue the business growth and performance. The executive will also proactively challenge the status quo, driving and implementing effective changes to the business, organization, systems and capabilities. In addition to having full accountability for financial outcomes, this leader will also be responsible for the underlying business drivers such as sales strategy, local marketing execution, online traffic and candidate acquisition. As the most senior representative at the country level, this individual will also be the face of the organization to the government and other key external stakeholders, as well as being responsible internally for the people and culture initiatives for all employees.

1. Business Management

  • Formulate plans and strategies for the overall business, including positioning of brand and identification of new market opportunities to drive growth, market share and profit.
  • Design and implement a forward-looking, robust and consistent commercial framework in close coordination with key stakeholders, including regional office.
  • Develop, implement and share best practice sales operations and practices to improve salesforce effectiveness and productivity, e.g. key account management disciplines, dashboard / metric reports, CRM, systematic target setting approaches, new sales training and incentive structures, etc.
  • Key driver to transform the business as Hirer Talent Partner by delivering more values to our customers through existing and new products and solutions.
  • Monitor progress against objectives and change initiatives.

2. People and Leadership 

  • Attract, develop and retain top quality staff.
  • Lead, motivate and grow the team to perform to a high standard and be performance focused in order to ensure achievement of strategies and goals.
  • Develop strong internal coordination and collaboration amongst team to ensure maximum engagement, productivity & performance.
  • Foster a culture of Performance and Accountability, Teamwork and Open Communication, with effective decision-making processes.

3. Relationship Management

  • Establish effective business contacts / network with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Build effective relationships with peers and maintain a collaborative and open approach to problem solving. Socialise proposals / changes with key stakeholders to generate early alignment.

  • Step change acceleration of top line growth, while maintaining healthy profit margins.
  • Strengthening of current #1 position.
  • Retain existing & acquire new customers, in order to have deeper penetration of customers in the HK market.
  • Continued upgrading of team capabilities, disciplines and systems.

So, what we are looking for?

  • >5+ years in a senior leadership position managing large teams, and >8+ in Commercial and sales leadership position in an Internet (or other technology) company. B2B experience advantageous and possession of a sales “toolkit” critical.
  • Significant experience in key account management and solution selling and / or telesales to multinational and local customers.
  • Experience transforming and optimising a sales and customer-service organisation to be more e.g. customer-centric, proactive and systematic.
  • Experience in operating in both fast-paced, nimble environments as well as more structured ones.
  • Experience leading teams of 50+ individuals.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
