Job Description

Summary of the position

Ampd Energy is seeking a Manufacturing & Supply Chain Manager to lead, manage & develop all aspects of the Company’s supply chain operations such as manufacturing, procurement, supplier relations, quality management, logistics & fulfilment, costing, etc. The role will be highly cross functional and will require a thorough understanding of the entire product development cycle and taking inhouse product designs from ideation to prototyping through EVT, DVT and PVT stages all the way to mass production.

This role requires excellent verbal communication skills in English and Mandarin and excellent written communication skills in English. Proficiency in written Chinese is a plus. This role may also require occasional travel (2-5 times per month) to Mainland China.

Specific duties could include:

  • Lead the company’s supply chain activities including but not limited to manufacturing & production management, product development & planning, supplier & CM management, NPI, procurement, vendor selection & qualification, reverse logistics, repair, issuing POs, negotiating supply terms (costs, logistics, warranty etc.) with suppliers, etc.
  • Work with design engineers and manufacturing partners to ensure that the product design is fully defined, documented, controlled and developed on time, on spec and on budget.
  • Optimize a mid-volume battery module manufacturing assembly line, specifying and/or refining BOMs, work flow processes and detailed work instructions.
  • Manage manufacturing development schedule and technical program risk.
  • Execute the S&OP process and translate the outcome into the production plan while working with business development, design & engineering teams to understand product demand.
  • Responsible for maintaining compliance with ISO9001 and UL quality system requirements including creating product documentation, corrective action closure, discrepant material dispositions and ECO implementation.
  • Provide technical support analyzing and/or performing failure analysis for discrepant production components, assemblies and field returns.
  • Manage costing process with suppliers & lead initiatives focused on material cost reduction, capacity enhancement, outsourcing of assemblies, etc.
  • Hire, develop, and grow the ideal supply chain team to support the business and leverage latest technologies and software tools to scale and/or optimize operations and product cost.

Expected Skills and Knowledge

  • Degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain Management or related discipline.
  • A minimum of 7 years of manufacturing experience at large and small companies supporting the launch of technology products with recent start-up experience.
  • Experience working directly with contract manufacturers through the complete product life cycle (from NPI to product ramp, mass production, and service/EOL).
  • Outstanding project management skills, experience with project management software and processes, preferably within New Product Development teams. Must be able to meet multiple commitments in cross-functional team environments under tight deadlines.
  • Experience with electronics manufacturing, SMT process and DFMA experience for a variety of manufacturing processes (i.e. injection molding, die casting, machining, stamping, box builds, extruding, PCB & PCBA, general final assembly).
  • Strong analytical, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Mandarin is a must.
