Job Description

Job Requirements:

  • Certificate of Registration (Part I) issued by the Nursing Council of Hong Kong or equivalent;
  • Valid Practising Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Hong Kong;
  • English Language (Syllabus B) and Chinese Language at Grade E or Level 2 or above in HKCEE or equivalent;
  • Relevant experience in ophthalmic field and/or Operating Theatre an advantage

Job Responsibilities:

  • To assign duties, supervise and to appraise all nurses and supporting staff who are directly engaged in surgical service, medical dispensing, nursing and eye care for ophthalmological services.
  • To prepare and to review the nursing procedure with the Centre Manager and to perform nursing audits for staff who engage in surgical, eye care and dispensary services on a regular basis.
  • To organize staff training for the nursing team to uphold the service standards of GELVC and fulfil all the necessary requirement of the Code of Practice for Private Hospitals, Nursing Homes and Maternity Homes of the Department of Health, HKSAR.
  • To help to maintain the nursing standards of GELVC to meet the requirements for the Registration Ordinance (Chapter 165) of the Department of Health, HKSAR.
  • To make suggestions and recommendations to the Centre Manager for the improvement of nursing and surgical service standards in the Eye Centre.
  • To be responsible for all the routine works in the operating theatres and the out-patient clinics.
  • To dispense medicine and be responsible for the ordering of medication and dispensing of medicine.
  • To give pre-operative medication to patients according to surgeon’s instruction.
  • To perform all necessary procedures required while acting as a scrub nurse during surgeries.
