Job Description

Strategic Objective for Practice Development Manager Role 

To increase and enhance the brand awareness of our chambers as a thought leader in law, and a legal centre of excellence in Hong Kong and into the Asia Pacific Region. 

 

Job Description 

We are looking to hire an enterprising candidate who is self-motivated and has the ability to work independently, take initiative and to establish and lead our new practice development initiatives.  The successful candidate will be reporting to and working closely with our newly established Practice Development Committee. 

 

Job Responsibilities / Duties include:  

  • Formulating and executing short and long term practice development and brand awareness strategies with the Practice Development Committee; 
  • Co-ordinating, assisting and advising individual lawyers to formulate and execute their practice development strategies; 
  • Organising and managing conferences, seminars, corporate functions and the marketing that goes with this, such events to range from informal networking events to professional development seminars, and large-scale conferences series and annual events with guest lists ranging from 10 to 300; and 
  • Managing, improving and enhancing the social media and internet presence of Chambers, including legal directories; 
  • Supporting the creation of legal content and knowledge databases for internal and external publications; 
  • Annual analytics on practice development strategy; and
  • Preparing an annual practice development budget. 

 

Qualifications / Experience: 

The successful candidate must have 5 – 8 years work experience in the field of legal practice development for the litigation market in Hong Kong or a similar Common law jurisdiction, and preferably with 2 years in a leadership role.  Knowledge of the how barristers and litigation work is an added advantage although not a prerequisite.  Relevant work experience in chambers is preferred but not necessary.

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to engage in a multifaceted role, including being able to propose practice development strategies, equipping barristers for practice development, executing strategic initiatives, and financial budgeting.  Candidates should also be able to help each barrister analyse his/her practice areas. 

In addition to management and organizational skills, the candidate must be able to multi-task, effectively communicate, and have a strong understanding of cross-cultural communication.
