Job Description

Our client is a reputable European asset management firm with global presence. They are looking for an experienced Risk professional to take up this Regional Head of Risk position, leading the team and supervise the risk functions across Hong Kong, China and Taiwan markets. Fluent in spoken and written Chinese (Mandarin) and English skills are essential to handle stakeholders’ management and external parties i.e. regulators. Qualified candidate should have equipped working experience from the long only traditional asset management firms and familiar with various fund products within the region.

 

Responsibilities

  • Familiar with the Asian equities and Balanced portfolios
  • Conduct the day by day monitoring of investment guidelines and perform manual checking if they are required
  • Test and contribute to validate legal and contractual constraints
  • Program simple constraint (regulatory, client or risk constraint)
  • Delegate to the expertise team in the headquarter after analysis the key into Risk monitoring tool
  • Investigate breaches if necessary, qualify them properly and implement the appropriate procedure to follow-up breaches until they are corrected with the appropriate escalation procedure.
  • Report all the breaches, their status and their potential financial impact for the company on monthly basis
  • Responsible for internal and risk guidelines to come up with the risk strategies
  • Put in place or update the risk strategies guidelines in coordination with the CRO and the corresponding investment team 
  • Prepare materials relative to risk strategy presentation for risk committee approval
  • Perform a regular monitoring of the risk guidelines in line with the procedures in place
  • Prepare the risk materials for portfolio reviews and risk committee
  • Use different risk analysis previously performed, either on a portfolio dimension or on a consolidated view, coordination with the Chief Risk Officer
  • Participate or even run the portfolio review
  • Compute the production of performance attribution reports for client, portfolio managers and risk purposes
  • Meeting deadlines and ensuring the quality of the results (high level of reconciliation with the official month-end valuations)
  • Coordinate any topic or question regarding performance issues locally with the performance team in headquarter  
  • Contribute to the development of risk tools at the Group and local level
  • Propose new analysis solutions to enhance the risk and performance monitoring within the company framework and technical platform
  • Participate to the Risk Business Line Committees : Technical, Project or User committees depending the topic presented
  • Review procedures on all production activities and share them with the team

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline
  • Over 10 years of work experience from asset management industry
  • Experience in performance analysis and / or risk management is crucial
  • Solid finance knowledge of financial instruments, particularly with valuations mechanisms and their risk profile
  • General understanding of the local / Greater China (across Asian countries) legal and financial framework
  • Good communication skills working with senior stakeholders
  • Able to multitask and work under pressure with tight deadlines
  • Strong problem solving, numerical and analytical skills
  • Familiar with Office tools, Programming skills an advantage
  • Fluent in both Mandarin and English a must, Cantonese a plus
