Job Description


Key Purpose of the Job:

Manages the Regional Apparel Technical Design Team for Outerwear and responsible for the execution of appropriate fit, construction and quality standards across all VF Brands. Partners with Design, Product Development, Sourcing and Vendors to ensure consistency of all fit processes and quality procedures. Assists in overall strategy of research, assessments and driving innovations for all size and fit initiatives. Responsible for all construction, fit and sizing communication to vendors and key stake holders across all VF brands as it relates to outerwear/performance products.

Fit/Quality Management

  • Strong knowledge of outdoor and performance product construction and functionality
  • Helps to facilitate the transition of product from concept/adoption to final approval.
  • Oversees accurate technical packages/specification details for VF’s testing, construction, grading/tolerances and safety specifications.
  • Ensures fit consistency by upholding established block fit intent, core grade rules and brand aesthetics.
  • Partners with Design, Product Development and Sourcing to on board all new vendors on VF’s processes and procedures specific to brand fit and construction.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional partners to finalize fit and functional intent. These partnerships include brand, production and sourcing team members to obtain clear direction and consensus on design aesthetic, construction and end use of product.
  • Employ all fit communication tools to convey technical issues/requirements to vendors and to improve the technical design process.
  • Effectively communicate fit intent, balance and construction internally and externally.
  • Helps to lead improvements to technical standards, processes, procedures and tools across all brands as it relates to outerwear products.

  • Provide active coaching to team members to encourage and foster new knowledge while ensuring VFs values are upheld.


  • University graduate or equivalent
  • At least 10 years’ experience in which 3 -5 years in Supervisory level
  •  At least 5 years’ experience in the outdoor or performance industry is required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of apparel fit standards and industry best practices
  • In-Depth knowledge of pattern and sewing construction
  • Extreme attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multi task and prioritize
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written
  • Possess excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills in both written and spoken English and Chinese
