Job Description

Reporting to the Registered Geotechnical Engineer (RGE) and the Director Geotechnics, your main tasks at the outset will be to undertake site supervision works as a T5 under the RGE stream for underground construction works; - deep basement construction and foundation construction works of  high profile projects in Hong Kong. You are required to be fully conversant and thorough with regards to Buildings Department (BD) regulations, requirements, procedures, Geotechnical Engineering Office (GEO) requirements and guidelines. You will be required to maintain detailed records and notes of daily site activities, and prepare BD and GEO required site supervision reports and submit them to the Authorities on schedule. Past experience in full time T5 supervision works with close liaison with BD/GEO will be an advantage.  In addition, you will be expected to provide technical and commercial leadership across a diverse range of projects from conceptualisation, through feasibility and design to construction implementation. You will promote technical excellence and participate in identifying and developing business opportunities.
Your Next Challenge 
  • Technical and team leadership in construction site supervision under the RGE stream, of  large projects with significant geotechnical components
  • Developing best practice for project delivery; drawing on and working with Mott MacDonald's global community of geotechnical and geological experts
  • Delivering projects to meet our client's needs whilst maintaining sound financial control
  • Fostering development of expertise among our staff
  • Develop client relationship and attend business related functions; actively participate in acquiring new work, as both participant and bid leader, when required.

What You'll Need 

  • Degree in civil engineering or related disciplines from a reputed university
  • Chartered member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) Geotechnical Discipline (HKIE(G)) with strong post-chartered experience in geotechnical aspects of infrastructure and other developments in Hong Kong
  • Registered Professional Engineer (Geotechnical) registration with the Hong Kong Engineers Registration Board
  • At least 5 years post registration experience ( at least 5 years of experience following RPE(G) registration)
  • Thorough knowledge of BD regulations and procedures.
  • The ability to work with design teams to achieve and deliver robust, cost effective designs, drawing on modern practices
  • Experience across a wide range of geotechnical situations as found in Hong Kong (slope stability, tunnels, foundations and reclamation)
  • Solid experience in design, construction supervision and project management
  • A sound track record of successfully delivering projects in a consultancy environment
  • A team player with good interpersonal and presentation skills; you are expected to motivate others to achieve project goals
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English and Cantonese with a working knowledge of Mandarin.
