UNIVERSITY RESEARCH FACILITY IN CHEMICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS (UCEA)
Scientific Officer (Ref. 19041706-IE)
The appointee will be required to:
(a) supervise and uphold the smooth running of research facilities in UCEA by managing, operating and maintaining all spectrometry equipment;
(b) work with principal investigators and other research team members to facilitate high quality research works;
(c) provide training to UCEA users and research personnel on the operation of UCEA spectrometers;
(d) assist in sample preparation, experimental design and data analysis for the University’s research teams;
(e) administer the booking and charging system of UCEA equipment;
(f) monitor and report on utilization of equipment, facilities and research outputs in UCEA;
(g) organize workshops and seminars to promote UCEA activities;
(h) work with Health, Safety and Environment Office on safety and registration of LASER-equipped equipment in UCEA;
(i) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of UCEA or his delegates.
(a) have a recognized degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, Engineering or a related discipline;
(b) have at least three years’ post-qualification research experience in chemical analysis;
(c) be familiar with spectrometer analysis;
(d) have good interpersonal and communication skills; and
(e) be able to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English and preferably with fluency in Chinese including Putonghua and Cantonese.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written language proficiency test.
Remuneration and Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
