Job Description

As a Senior Research Manager at KaiOS, you’ll need to build an "insights factory," first and foremost providing our internal BD, Product, Monetization, and Ecosystem teams with market intelligence and synthesised data on our products and users. But also externally for our ecosystem -- carriers, manufacturers, developers, non-profit and governmental organizations -- to establish KaiOS as an authority that provides unique and valuable insights on "the next billion" users, mobile technology, digital inclusion, and other relevant topics in emerging markets.

Your "raw materials" to work with will come from a wide variety of sources, including, but not limited to, KaiOS internal product data, analyst reports, media articles, KaiOS user surveys and feedback, input from other colleagues, and so on.

You use these resources to turn them into valuable and actionable intelligence and insights for all the different "audiences" mentioned earlier. This can be as simple as a plain email to other team members, or as complex as a detailed report that you present to our partners in an exclusive webinar.


  • Collect market information, identifying and validating new business ideas in mobile market
  • Turn internal and external data into usable stories and reports for other departments
  • Validate other departments' ideas and projects with data
  • Hold the rest of the Marketing team accountable based on weekly and monthly analysis of marketing data
  • Build a research, publishing portal for our partners (medium to long term)
  • Maintain relations with industry analysts
  • Regularly track, measure, update, and analyze technology trends and performance and financial metrics of players in the tech and mobile industries
  • Provide market intelligence for other teams based on In-depth analysis of research studies, market forecasts, industry trends, and other sources.

Job requirements

  • Degree holder in marketing, business, or related disciplines
  • Strong knowledge of tech and mobile (telco) industries
  • Expert at using Microsoft office applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • At least 2 year’s experience in market research agency is preferred 
  • Good command of both written and spoken English
  • Aptitude, creativity, and a preference for working in small, collaborative teams

Skills, experience, and interests

  • Highly data-driven and analytical
  • Several years experience doing user and market research
  • You're hands on and not afraid to do some quick research yourself, whether that means setting up a quick user survey, doing desk research, or picking up the phone to get someone's input.
  • Experienced at putting together effective and concise presentations
  • Passionate about technology, emerging markets, and/or digital inclusion 
  • Experience with digital analytics and tools a big plus (e.g., PowerBI, Google Analytics)
  • Storytelling and writing skills a big plus
