What's it like to be an English Teacher?
English Teachers focus on instructing students on the complexities of the English language, including the written and spoken elements. They develop lesson plans, conduct assessments and offer guidance on essay writing, creative writing and critical reading. Tasks and duties
- Planning and delivering lesson plans that cover the English curriculum.
- Assessing and marking student papers, assignments and exams to track their progress.
- Providing feedback and assistance to students to aid their learning and improve their English skills.
- Implementing creative learning strategies to engage students and enhance their learning experience.
- Facilitating in-class discussions to stimulate critical thinking and encourage student participation.
- Working with individual students or small groups to address any difficulties in understanding the subject matter.
- Keeping up-to-date with changes in the English curriculum and incorporating new teaching methods when required.
How to become an English Teacher
English Teachers instruct students on the complexities of the English language, including the written and spoken elements. They develop lesson plans, conduct assessments and offer guidance on essay writing, creative writing and critical reading.
- 1.Degree holder of Education or a related discipline.
- 2.Degree and/or teaching qualification such as TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), and PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) is an advantage.
- 3.Work experience in a relevant field is a plus.
- 4.Fluent in English, written and verbal.
- 5.A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
