What's it like to be an Enrolled Nurse?
An Enrolled Nurse works under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide essential healthcare to patients. Their duties may involve administering medication, observing and reporting changes in patient conditions, providing emotional support and education to patients and their families, and assisting with clinical care. Enrolled Nurses can work in a variety of settings, such as hospitals, nursing homes, clinics and within the community.
Tasks and duties
- Providing direct, personal care and support to patients in a variety of healthcare settings.
- Observing, monitoring and recording patients’ conditions including their responses to treatment.
- Communicating with patients, their families and other healthcare professionals to share necessary information about the patient’s condition and progress.
- Administering medication and treatments under the supervision of a registered nurse or doctor.
- Assisting with clinical procedures such as wound dressing.
- Implementing plans for health promotion and disease prevention for patients.
- Ensuring the patient’s environment is safe, comfortable and clean.
