- Collaborating with other professionals such as architects and civil engineers to ensure that design plans meet structural requirements and regulations.
- Testing materials that will be used in a project to validate their properties and to ensure that they meet standards for strength and safety.
How to become a Structural Engineer
Structural Engineers focus on designing, planning, and researching structures to ensure safety and functionality. A degree in a related discipline and certification from the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers is required.
- Bachelor's Degree or above in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Working experience in a related field.
- Proficiency in AUTOCAD software.
- Must be a Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers (MHKIE) and have a certification from the HKIE.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
