Senior Dealer – Institutional Cash Equities
Position Overview
The Senior Dealer will serve as a core execution and control resource within the Institutional Brokerage Sales Trading Desk, supporting institutional agency trading across Hong Kong, China Connect, major Asian and US equity markets.
Working closely with Sales Traders, Operations, and Technology, the role will be responsible for accurate order execution, dealing controls, trade monitoring and full order-lifecycle management. The Senior Dealer will also provide day-to-day guidance to junior dealers, maintain effective shift coverage and support the continued enhancement of the desk’s trading systems and operating processes.
Sales Traders will remain responsible for client-facing execution advice and communication, while the Senior Dealer will focus primarily on dealing execution, transaction controls and operational delivery.
Job Responsibilities
Execute institutional cash-equity orders through approved OMS/EMS platforms, algorithms, brokers and market-access channels.
Verify order instructions and applicable pre-trade controls, including positions, limits, restricted securities, short-selling requirements and market rules.
Manage the full order lifecycle, including order entry, routing, amendment, cancellation, execution, allocation and completion.
Monitor live orders, fills, positions and system status, and promptly escalate trade errors, unusual activity, limit breaches or technology issues.
Maintain complete and accurate order records, handling instructions and audit trails.
Coordinate with Sales Traders on execution status, liquidity conditions, market developments and order handovers.
Support daily trade reconciliation, allocation, confirmation and settlement follow-up with Operations and relevant counterparties.
Support electronic trading, algorithmic execution, FIX connectivity, system implementation, UAT and production testing.
Supervise and develop junior dealers, maintain dealing standards and coordinate shift and market coverage.
Improve dealing workflows, controls, management reporting and business-continuity arrangements.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or above in finance, economics, business or a related discipline.
At least five years of relevant cash-equity dealing, institutional execution or trading-operations experience within a broker or investment bank.
Strong knowledge of institutional order workflows and market practices across Hong Kong, China Connect and major Asian and/or US equity markets.
Meticulous and detail-oriented, with a proactive approach to learning new products, market practices, trading systems and procedures.
Hands-on experience with OMS/EMS platforms, algorithmic trading and electronic market connectivity.
Good understanding of best execution, order handling, short selling, restricted-list controls, trade-error management and market-conduct requirements.
Strong execution judgement, attention to detail and ability to perform accurately in a high-pressure trading environment.
Experience supervising junior dealers or coordinating trading shifts would be an advantage.
Fluency in English and Chinese; availability of mid or late shifts preferred.
