Purchasing Manager (Building Materials)

Job Description:

  • Develop and execute strategic sourcing initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency, cost optimization, and budget alignment

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with key suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness

  • Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable contract terms, pricing, and long-term value

  • Identify, evaluate and qualify suppliers of various building materials both domestic and international

  • Develop purchasing plans and effective procurement strategies based on demand forecasting, market trends, project pipelines, and seasonal fluctuations

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align procurement with inventory needs, stock levels, and storage capacity

  • Work closely with Sales and Warehouse Managers to maintain optimal inventory levels in a cost-efficient manner

  • Implement evaluation tools to provide regular reports to management on cost savings, supplier performance, risk mitigation, and supply chain opportunities

  • Occasional travel may be required

  • Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned


Requirements:

  • Higher diploma or above in Purchasing, Business, Supply Chain Management or related discipline

  • 5 years of procurement experience, preferably in the building materials industry

  • Excellent command of both spoken and written English and Mandarin;

  • Proven contract management and supplier experience

  • Outgoing and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage various stakeholders

  • Strong negotiation and commercial skills

  • Experience in handling overseas manufacturers will be an advantage

  • Proficient in MS Office applications, procurement software (such as ERP systems – Epicor), and data analytics tools

  • Candidates with LESS experience will be considered as Assistant Purchasing Manager
