A-Team Edventures (ATE) is a Hong Kong-based Outdoor Education company, providing customised experiential educational programs to schools, typically using both English and Mandarin as the language of instruction. Operating from locations in Hong Kong and Guangdong, China, ATE provides tailored programs with learning experiences that complement the school's curriculum. We also offer recreational camps to corporate teams, families, groups, and individuals. Our activities offered include rock climbing, canyoning, coasteering, survival skills, Chinese culture and heritage, service learning and village community visits, organic farming and foraging, intertidal zone and nature study, coastal watch study, mangrove and stream ecology and more.

Responsibilities are shared, including: program coordination, activity leading, basic logistics planning, gear management, maintenance, and clean-up.
About the Job - Seasonal 3+3 months
Increasingly, we have clients with a bilingual Mandarin/English curriculum, so we require experienced Mandarin native speaking instructors.
As an outdoor instructor, you will be expected to run and assist with a variety of outdoor activities during school programs and other trips safely and professionally, using Mandarin as the language of instruction.
Our busiest periods are 1 Feb to 30 April and 1 Sept to 30 Nov and we seek seasonal staff to assist cover these periods. As it is busy, we potentially work 6 days a week.
Activities are varied and often have an educational aspect. For example, Instructors will run activities such as abseiling, climbing, canyoning, farming, kayaking, camp craft, service learning, village community visits etc and also deliver more educational sessions such as intertidal zone and mangrove studies, coastal watch study, Chinese culture and heritage visits, etc. You also assist with general site maintenance, gear upkeep, and some filing & documentation.
Our Instructors are also encouraged to develop new and existing activities based on their interests and field expertise. Instructors are encouraged to think on their feet and are expected to handle a variety of unexpected situations. Work conditions:
seasonal employment - 1 Sept to 30 Nov 2026 and 1 Feb to 30 April 2027 (renewal for good performers will be favourably considered)
typically, a 6-day work week. Due to the nature of the work, there are no scheduled hours per day. Overnights are expected on programs and some tours. Holiday times are compensated for by days off in lieu.
The position includes a lot of weekend and public holiday work (replacement days given).
Programs can take place on a single-day basis, in tenting, camping or dorm settings.

Required Experience:
Good facilitation skills (in Mandarin) including as a group leader (for multi-day programs) and for activities such as Chinese culture and heritage, organic farming, village/community visits etc.
Outdoor adventure group leading experience, especially in southern China. A preference given to candidates with experience organising trips from first contact to delivery.
Strong soft skills, teaching, and facilitation experience, especially in topics such as Chinese culture and heritage, organic farming, biology, natural habitats, conservation, heritage preservation, and leadership.
A relevant Course Certificate or Diploma in a related discipline or significant comparable work experience in the outdoor industry.
Preference for work experience with a larger Outdoor industry provider.
Excellent organisational skills and ability to use initiative and ability to self-manage and develop personal projects.
First Aid and CPR certification, but preferably Remote or Wilderness First Aid or
higher.Demonstrated ability to identify and mitigate risk in outdoor and group settings.
Experience working or travelling in the developing world (personal travel is
recognised).Experience of living in and managing shared housing, maintenance & upkeep.
Experience working with youth / appropriate soft skills in outdoor settings.
Fluent in spoken and written Mandarin (with Cantonese or English
advantageous).Police record check or Working with Children certificate or equivalent required.
