Product Innovation Manager

Pets at Home is the UK’s leading pet care business, supporting pet owners with products, services and expert advice across a nationwide estate of pet care centres, grooming salons and veterinary practices. To help deliver innovative, high-quality and responsibly sourced products at the right value for customers, we developed our Asia sourcing office in Hong Kong. The office strengthens our access to world-class suppliers and manufacturing capabilities, enables closer partnership with factories across the region, and supports faster, more effective collaboration on quality, innovation and supply continuity.

About the Role: 

This role is based in our Kowloon sourcing office and offers occasional travel across China and the wider Asia region. It reports to the Head of Sourcing, Asia Pacific, based in the Pets at Home Hong Kong office. Working closely with regional suppliers and cross-functional partners, it plays an important part in shaping and delivering our innovation agenda. We are looking for a commercially driven Product Innovation Manager to bridge UK category strategy with Asia sourcing excellence — turning trends and insights into scalable, manufacturable product concepts.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Innovation Strategy & Pipeline Management: Develop and manage a clear, practical innovation pipeline by identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing new product opportunities. Ensure all ideas are aligned with customer needs, market trends, and business priorities, with a strong focus on commercial viability.  

• Opportunity Identification & Concept Development: Translate consumer insights, trend analysis, and competitive landscape into well-defined product opportunities and actionable development briefs. Shape early-stage product concepts that are relevant, differentiated, and scalable. 

• Fast-Track Product Development: Lead early-stage concept development and validation, including feasibility assessment, prototyping, and initial costing. Drive faster speed-to-market while balancing quality, cost, and execution risks. 

• Supplier-Led Innovation: Collaborate closely with suppliers to unlock innovation in materials, product construction, and manufacturing capabilities. Translate supplier strengths into commercially viable product ideas that enhance competitive advantage 

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Design, Sourcing, Quality, Brand, and Supply Chain teams across Hong Kong and the UK to align on priorities, concepts, and delivery timelines. Facilitate workshops, concept reviews, and decision-making discussions.  

• Innovation Governance & Stage Gate Delivery: Establish a simple and effective stage-gate process for early-stage innovation. Define clear criteria, deliverables, and decision checkpoints to ensure concepts are thoroughly validated and ready for development.  

• Commercial Impact & Performance Tracking: Define and monitor key innovation metrics such as concept conversion rate, speed-to-market improvements, supplier innovation contribution, and overall commercial impact. Ensure innovation activities deliver measurable business outcomes.  

Requirements: 

• 7-10+ years’ proven experience leading Product Development, Innovation and/or Sourcing, ideally within retail or consumer goods. 

• Demonstrated end-to-end product delivery experience—from insight and concept through to production—working closely with Asia-based factories and suppliers. 

• Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking, with the ability to translate trends and insights into propositions that balance cost, quality and timelines. 

• Proactive and accountable project owner, providing clear insights and forward planning to support business performance. 

• Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience facilitating workshops and aligning cross-functional teams across Hong Kong and UK offices.  

• Bachelor’s degree required (MBA/advanced degree a plus).
