PROJECT ENGINEERING MANAGER / HEAD OF PROJECT ENGINEERING - toy manufacturer

Role Mission
You will own and drive the end-to-end product development project lifecycle at our Vietnam factory.
This role ensures that all projects progress smoothly from concept to production readiness, meeting customer requirements while achieving the highest standards in quality, cost, schedule adherence, and manufacturability.
Role Summary
You will serve as the primary project owner and engineering lead coordinating between customers, mold shops, and internal factory teams.
The position requires strong project management expertise combined with deep technical engineering knowledge to manage multiple concurrent development projects, solve complex issues, and deliver on tight deadlines. You will balance technical problem-solving with project execution to ensure successful product launches.
Job Description
Lead and manage multiple product development projects from prototype stage through tooling completion and production handover
Coordinate with clients, mold shops, and factory teams on product requirements, project schedules, and costing
Monitor project milestones, identify risks proactively, and implement corrective actions to ensure on-time delivery
Ensure smooth project execution through effective time management and cross-functional coordination
Provide mechanical design, tooling design, and practical engineering solutions for new toy development
Support customers on design specifications and translate requirements into manufacturable solutions
Review technical issues, assess information carefully, and solve complex engineering problems
Provide engineering support to production and development teams throughout the project lifecycle
Ensure all projects meet customer requirements, quality standards, and international toy safety compliance
Evaluate project feasibility from technical and cost perspectives
Collaborate with teams to optimize design for manufacturability and cost-effectiveness
Ideal Candidate
Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Production Engineering, or equivalent
At least 5 years in project management, product development and new toy development
Strong project management skills with proven ability to handle multiple tasks and projects independently; track record of delivering projects on time
Good communications in written and spoken English and Chinese (Mandarin)
Strong mechanical design capability with solid knowledge of mould structure and production processes
Proven experience in plastic injection and plastic tooling design
Familiar with international toy safety standards
Proficient in CAD systems or other design software (preferred)
