What's it like to be a Human Resources Assistant?
A Human Resources Assistant supports the administration of a human resources department. They're often responsible for tasks such as maintaining employee records, assisting with payroll processing and providing administrative support for recruitment processes. Human Resources Assistants can work in a variety of settings, ranging from small businesses to multinational corporations, and from non-profits to government agencies. They also often serve as an important point of contact in answering employee queries regarding policies, benefits and procedures. In some settings, they may be involved in staff training and development.
Tasks and duties
- Assisting in recruitment processes by posting job ads, sorting through applications and setting up interviews.
- Helping to maintain employee records and updating the human resources database.
- Answering employee queries about human resource-related matters such as benefits, pay, policies and procedures.
- Providing administrative support for HR executives including calendar management, organising meetings, and preparing HR-related documents.
- Assisting in payroll preparation.
- Coordinating training sessions and seminars, managing training logistics and preparing training materials.
- Supporting the human resources department in implementing company policies and procedures.
How to become a Human Resources Assistant
A Human Resources (HR) Assistant supports the administration of an HR department, maintaining records, assisting with payroll or providing administrative support for recruitment. Having a degree in Human Resources would be a great advantage for someone who wants to apply for this role.
- 1.Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline.
- 2.A year of HR generalist experience, preferably in a related industry, is a plus.
- 3.Familiarity with Hong Kong labour laws and regulations.
- 4.Highly organised, has excellent communication skills and is a team player.
